Best crypto exchanges in Indonesia: which platform suits whom

There is no single best exchange for everyone. We compare ten platforms on OJK licence, real fees, top-ups and withdrawals, then match them to what you need.

  8. Choosing in three questions

There is no single best crypto exchange in Indonesia for everybody, but there are clear answers by need. A beginner who wants the simplest app fits Pintu. Someone chasing low platform fees can look at Reku or Pluang. Someone who wants the most open fee table fits Tokocrypto. Someone who wants the biggest user base and many top-up methods fits Indodax. All are licensed by OJK as digital financial asset traders (PAKD) on the lists we read, and that is the first test before fees or features. Once you have chosen, the practical steps are in how to buy crypto in Indonesia.

{{callout type="verify" title="Checked against sources"}} We read the fees from each platform's official help pages. The CFX exchange fee falls again on 1 October 2026 (Antara reported a cut from 0.04 to 0.02 percent on 1 March 2026, then 0.01 percent from 1 October), and Indodax says it will adjust its all-in fee structure the same day. So figures here may shift from 1 October. OJK's website would not load from our research environment, so we cite licence status through media quoting OJK. Match names yourself on the OJK licensing page. {{/callout}}

How we choose and order the list

First, we include only platforms on OJK's licensed trader list, plus one offshore platform, CEX.IO, which is labelled as not OJK-licensed. Second, we order the local platforms by how much we could verify directly from official pages, not by payment. A platform with fully published fees moves up and one with unverified data moves down, so a lower position does not mean bad, only thinly documented. Third, we weigh five things: licence, total cost (top-up, trading, withdrawal), speed and clarity of verification, app ease, and any documented problems. The full scheme is on the methodology page.

We also deliberately avoid a single score for every platform on this page. Editorial scores live in each review, where the reasoning can be spelled out. In a comparison, raw numbers you can check yourself are more useful.

The ten platforms compared

The table has nine licensed local platforms and CEX.IO, an offshore platform registered with the UK FCA and holding a US NMLS, but not OJK-licensed and without rupiah. A cell reading "not verified" means we could not find the figure on an official page we could open.

Real costs: an IDR 1,000,000 example across five platforms

Percentages are hard to compare because each platform counts differently: some charge per trade, some bury the cost in a price spread. This table turns them into rupiah for one example: top up IDR 1,000,000 by QRIS, buy IDR 1,000,000 of Bitcoin, then withdraw rupiah to a bank. Figures come from the official pages we read at the time, with the CFX fee at 0.0111 percent, valid through 30 September.

PlatformQRIS top-upBuy IDR 1,000,000Bank withdrawal
Indodax0.7%, about IDR 7,000Maker/taker not verifiedIDR 10,000 (plus IDR 1,000 with SMS OTP)
Tokocrypto2%, about IDR 20,000Taker 0.2222%, about IDR 2,222IDR 10,000
PintuFree VA; e-wallet 1.5% to 2%No separate fee but a spread; CFX shownIDR 4,500
Reku0.7%, about IDR 7,000Lightning 0% plus CFX about IDR 111; Pro 0.1% plus CFXFree, but IDR 6,500 bank ADM fee
Pluang0.7%, about IDR 7,000Instant Order CFX only, about IDR 111Not verified

How to read it. At Tokocrypto, buying IDR 1,000,000 with a QRIS top-up and taker order costs about IDR 22,222 up front, against about IDR 7,111 at Reku via QRIS and Lightning. That gap is real for small amounts, but remember that instant modes can carry a spread that does not show as a "fee", and for Reku we cannot confirm one either way. At Pintu there is no separate trading fee, but the displayed price already contains a spread. The 0.21 percent income tax applies when selling on every licensed local platform, so it does not separate them. If you top up by virtual account, top-up cost can be zero at Pintu and Reku, which changes the ranking again. That is why we suggest comparing total cost for the way you will actually trade, rather than one percentage.

Who each platform suits

Indodax: most users, wide coin choice

Indodax stands out on scale. OJK-based data quoted by the press counted about 9.9 million users, or 46.5 percent of national crypto users, and about 38 percent of trading value in March 2026. Its top-up methods are many, from free BCA Direct to virtual accounts, QRIS and e-wallets. The downside: we cannot verify maker and taker percentages because its fee page sits behind a CAPTCHA, and the structure changes on 1 October. It suits those who put liquidity and coin choice first. See the Indodax review.

Tokocrypto: the most open fee table

Tokocrypto publishes a full fee table: IDR buy taker 0.2222 percent, maker 0.1222 percent, sell taker 0.4322 percent, maker 0.3322 percent (valid from 18 June 2026). QRIS and e-wallet top-ups at 2 percent are among the priciest of those we read, so a virtual account is better. The platform claims more than 5 million registered users (Infobank report, September 2026). Third-party sources name Binance as the largest shareholder; we do not quote a percentage. It suits people who want to know exact fee figures. Read the Tokocrypto review.

Pintu: the simplest app for beginners

Pintu shows no order book in its main app; the displayed price is final. Virtual accounts are free on Pintu's side, withdrawal is a flat IDR 4,500 (see Pintu's fee FAQ), and verification takes about 10 minutes to 24 hours. Its IDR 50,000 minimum deposit is higher than the others. Its help pages were the most complete we found. The downside: spreads are not always easy to compare. It suits beginners who want simplicity. Read the Pintu review.

Reku: low fees, many coins

Reku offers a Lightning mode with no platform fee and a Pro mode at 0.1 percent. Its site claims more than 350 coins and more than 1 million users (company claims). One note: Reku's homepage still carries old text saying it is "supervised by Bappebti", while the supervisor is now OJK. It suits the fee-sensitive. Read the Reku review.

Pluang: crypto, gold and stocks in one app

Pluang is a multi-asset app. Instant Order carries no Pluang fee, only CFX. Limit orders cost 0.10 percent maker and 0.15 percent taker. It suits people already using Pluang for gold or US stocks who want to add crypto. Read the Pluang review.

Triv, Upbit Indonesia, Bybit Indonesia and Luno: thin data

For most of these four we have not verified fee data. Triv is licensed and, by its own site, has run since 2015 with claims of 700+ coins and 61 banks and e-wallets (company claims); its homepage also still carries the old Bappebti wording. Upbit Indonesia (Dunamu group) was licensed in March 2025 per a statement quoted by the media and is headquartered at Menara Astra in Jakarta; a notice about a temporary IDR deposit suspension exists whose date and content we could not read, so check the status first. Bybit Indonesia is the former Nobi, launched in mid-July 2026 after Bybit took a majority stake; the licence holder is the local entity PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal, not global Bybit, so do not mix them up, and our take is in the Bybit Indonesia review. Luno Indonesia has been fully licensed since 25 May 2026, and Luno's closure notice in August and September 2026 concerns the EU only; deposits are reported free with a IDR 10,000 minimum. See the Luno review and the reviews index.

Other licensed platforms outside our top ten

OJK's list has more names. Beyond our ten, licensed traders on the lists we read include Ajaib, Stockbit Crypto, Nanovest, Bittime, Mobee, Coinvest, CoinX, Floq, Samuel Kripto, Koinsayang, Naga Exchange, ASTAL, CYRA, BTSE Indonesia and PT Indonesia Digital Exchange (licensed 13 August 2026). We have not verified any fees or features for these, so we do not rank them. If you already use Ajaib or Stockbit for shares, that is a fair reason to try crypto there, as long as the name matches OJK's list.

One counting note. OJK reported 34 licensed entities as of 23 September 2026, including 28 traders. We could not name the 28th trader from sources we could open, so the list you see here may not include the newest one. That is another reason to check OJK's list directly.

What we deliberately do not recommend

Binance, KuCoin, OKX, MEXC and Coinbase were named by OJK in its August 2026 statement as platforms it stopped for operating without a licence (reported by Investortrust on 5 August 2026). We do not write that using them is a crime for retail users, because we found no official statement on that, but we do not call them safe or legal either. If you still want to understand the route, read P2P crypto in Indonesia and the Binance review.

Two older names also need noting. Zipmex is not on the OJK list we read and was reported to have stopped operating in May 2024 (secondary source). Bitocto is not on the list either. Do not leave funds with a platform absent from OJK's latest list.

For buyers who need a card route, offshore platforms exist. CEX.IO, for example, is registered with the UK FCA as a cryptoasset business under the Money Laundering Regulations and its US entity holds an NMLS number, but it is not OJK-licensed and does not support rupiah. The full discussion is in the credit card and PayPal guide and the CEX.IO review.

An OJK licence is not a guarantee against risk

A PAKD licence means the platform is under OJK supervision and must run anti-money-laundering, consumer protection and data security rules. It does not mean prices will rise, and it does not mean you cannot lose money. Crypto prices can fall sharply in a day, and national trading value itself fell from IDR 650.61 trillion in 2024 to IDR 482.23 trillion in 2025. A licence also does not prevent app outages when the market is busy, and it does not protect you from your own slips such as sharing an OTP or reusing a password. Turn on two-factor authentication, keep passwords in a password manager, and ignore anyone claiming to be "support" in a private message.

One good thing about this comparison: the five main local platforms (Indodax, Tokocrypto, Pintu, Reku, Pluang) publish part of their fees on public pages, and all of them run e-KTP verification. That is very different from the offers on social media promising guaranteed returns. If you meet such an offer, OJK's "2L" principle, check Legal and check Logical, is the cheapest first filter.

Choosing in three questions

First, how much are you buying? Below a few million rupiah, top-up and withdrawal fees often matter more than trading fees, so pick the one with free virtual accounts. Above IDR 50 million, ask the OTC desk of your chosen platform; thresholds are covered in crypto OTC in Indonesia. Second, how often will you trade? Occasional buyers suit instant modes. Active traders need an order book and maker fees. Third, how will you cash out? Compare withdrawal cost and tax in sell crypto for rupiah and crypto tax in Indonesia.

And a bonus question: how will you keep the coins? Holding on an exchange means trusting the platform with custody. Self-custody is explained in best crypto wallets in Indonesia. If something looks suspicious, crypto scams in Indonesia explains how to verify a licence and reach OJK on 157.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best crypto exchange in Indonesia?

It depends on what you need. For beginners who want a simple app, Pintu. For low platform fees, Reku or Pluang. For a transparent fee table, Tokocrypto. For the largest user base and many top-up methods, Indodax. All are OJK-licensed PAKD on the lists we read; check OJK's list before signing up.

Is Binance legal in Indonesia?

Global Binance is not licensed in Indonesia, and in its August 2026 statement OJK named it among platforms it stopped. Tokocrypto, which is OJK-licensed, is a local entity that third-party sources link to Binance. We do not call Binance safe or legal; we call it unlicensed, with no OJK protection.

Indodax or Pintu, which is better?

Indodax leads on users (about 9.9 million, 46.5 percent of national users as of March 2026) and on top-up methods. Pintu leads on app simplicity, free virtual accounts and a flat IDR 4,500 withdrawal. Both are OJK-licensed. Indodax adjusts its fees on 1 October 2026, so check its official page.

How do I check that an exchange is OJK-licensed?

Open OJK's licensing page for digital financial assets and crypto assets, search the company name, and match the exact website or app address too, because the whitelist covers official channels. Tell PAKD (fully licensed) from CPAKD (candidates). OJK's contact line 157 can also help.

Which exchange has the lowest fees?

Going by published numbers, Reku's instant mode and Pluang's Instant Order carry no platform fee, only the CFX exchange fee of about 0.0111 percent. Instant modes can embed a spread, though, and top-up and withdrawal costs differ. Compare total cost, not one figure.

Can I still use Zipmex or Bitocto?

Neither is on the OJK licensed list we read. Zipmex was reported to have stopped operating in May 2024, and Bitocto does not appear on the list. We suggest not leaving funds with any platform that is absent from OJK's latest list.
