Buying Bitcoin in Bandung: the Graha Pos counter and how to test it

Bandung is the only place a staffed crypto counter appears in a directory, but it is unverified and promises no KYC. We do not recommend it, and here is why.

In Bandung, the route you can stand behind is the same as in any other city: an OJK-licensed trader app and a bank account in your own name. What makes Bandung different is a single entry in a third-party directory. Coin ATM Radar, according to search snippets, lists one "Bitcoin Teller" at Gedung Graha Pos, and it is the only location for all of Indonesia. The counter promises cash buying and selling of Bitcoin with no KYC. We could not verify it, and we do not recommend it. This page takes the claim apart as a case study, gives five questions for testing similar claims anywhere, then points to a safer path for this university and creative city. For the general answer on machines, read our Bitcoin ATM guide for Indonesia.

{{callout type="verify" title="Checked against sources"}} Coin ATM Radar blocked our automated access, and the operator's website would not load from our research environment (a DNS failure). So every counter detail below comes from search snippets with an unknown capture date. Treat it as an unverified claim, not a fact. Open the directory page yourself and note its last-updated date. {{/callout}}

One counter, many question marks

According to the directory snippets, the counter is run by a service called BeliBitcoin.cash at Jalan Banda No. 30 Block C, Gedung Graha Pos, 6th floor, Bandung 40115. The listed hours: Monday to Thursday 10:00 to 15:00, Friday 11:30 to 16:00, closed Saturday and Sunday. The coins named are Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin and Monero, bought and sold against rupiah. The stated limits are Rp500,000 to Rp5 billion without prior notice, and above Rp5 billion by appointment. One snippet also says the counter was installed on 3 November 2024. The service's site describes itself as a place to buy and sell Bitcoin with no KYC, paying in cash.

Now separate what can be proven from what cannot. Graha Pos is a real building: its manager's page shows the Jalan Banda No. 30 property, managed by Pos Properti Indonesia and offered for offices, coworking space and events. But the existence of a building proves nothing about its tenant. We cannot confirm that the counter is still open, who the legal entity is, or whether its hours and limits still apply. Two things we can say for certain: this is a staffed counter, not an ATM machine, and BeliBitcoin.cash does not appear on the 19 December 2025 OJK list of licensed traders that we read.

That is the core of what OJK said when it published its whitelist of crypto asset traders (our paraphrase of the statement as quoted by Antara and CFX on 19 December 2025). In practice, if something goes wrong at a counter like this, you have no OJK consumer-complaint route.

Five questions to test any "Bitcoin counter" claim

Use the Graha Pos counter as a practice case. The list applies to any machine or counter claim, including ones born from a social media post.

  1. Who is the legal entity? A brand name is not enough. Look for the company name, registered address and the name shown on the website. If there is none, that is already your answer.
  2. Are the name and web address on the OJK whitelist? If not, treat it as an unlicensed service. As of 23 September 2026 OJK recorded 34 licensed entities, 28 of them traders, so the list is short and easy to check.
  3. What is its identity policy? An answer of "no KYC" is not a feature, it is a red flag. Financial institutions must apply anti-money-laundering principles, and cash without identity is the combination PPATK watches most closely.
  4. How far is its rate from a licensed app at the same minute? Cash kiosks in many countries commonly set spreads far above apps. We cannot confirm a figure for Bandung, so compare for yourself.
  5. Is there dated, independent evidence? A recent photo or video from someone who is not the operator, not just a directory snippet or an advert. And never deposit money before every answer above is satisfying. {{/steps}}

Note one thing about the "Rp5 billion without notice" limit. In our reading (not an official statement), a limit that high for cash with no identity checks collides with the anti-money-laundering logic run by PPATK and licensed traders. That is why claims like this need proof rather than trust because they sound convenient. If you find proof that the counter is licensed or has closed, send it to contact@crypto-indonesia.com and we will update this page.

Who actually buys Bitcoin in Bandung

Bandung has roughly 2.5 to 2.6 million people, and Wikipedia calls it one of Indonesia's technology centres. The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) was founded in 1920, and the city also hosts Padjadjaran University and Telkom University. Telkom University runs Bandung Techno Park, which according to its profile was founded on 19 January 2010 to link campus, industry and government. The city's startup and digital-creative scene has been active for years, including Bandung Digital Valley (now IndigoHub Bandung), inaugurated on 20 December 2011.

Three kinds of buyer emerge. First, students with limited allowances who want to try small amounts. Second, creative and tech workers already comfortable with apps and QRIS. Third, freelancers who are sometimes paid by overseas clients and ask how to turn a crypto balance into rupiah. For the third group, the route we can stand behind is to sell in a licensed app and withdraw rupiah to your own account, with the final 0.21 percent PPh 22 withheld by the platform. The steps are in sell crypto for rupiah and crypto tax. We cannot comment on the legality of being paid for work in crypto in general, beyond noting that the rupiah is the only legal tender for payments inside the country.

For all three groups, a cash counter offers no real advantage. What they need is low cost and a flow they can repeat. If you are a beginner, how to buy crypto in Indonesia explains the first step, and buying crypto with GoPay, OVO and DANA compares top-up methods.

The licensed route from Bandung: nowhere you need to go

You do not need to visit any office. Install an OJK-licensed app such as Indodax, Pintu, Tokocrypto or Reku, verify with your e-KTP and a selfie (Pintu quotes 10 minutes to 24 hours, Tokocrypto about one business day), then top up from a bank account in your own name. If you hold cash, deposit it into your account at a teller or deposit machine first, because Pintu's FAQ says cash deposits through a bank teller straight to the platform are unavailable and funds must come from an account in your own name. A virtual account is free at Pintu and Reku, while QRIS costs 0.7 percent at Indodax, Reku and Pluang and 2 percent at Tokocrypto. The Pintu and Indodax reviews explain the feature differences, and best crypto exchanges in Indonesia compares them all.

On banks, the head office of bank bjb, the regional bank of West Java and Banten, sits on Jalan Naripan Nos. 12-14 in Bandung. We did not verify whether licensed apps accept bank bjb virtual accounts, so check the bank list on each platform's deposit page. The big banks supported by nearly every platform remain BCA, Mandiri and BRI. The regulators have a presence here too: the Bank Indonesia West Java representative office is at Jl. Braga No. 108 according to the BI website, and OJK Regional 2 West Java is reported at Jl. Ir. H. Djuanda No. 152 (an address from a 2016 relocation notice, so re-check before visiting). For licensing questions, OJK's Contact 157 is faster than showing up in person.

Cafés, campuses and communities

Bitcoin Indonesia publishes community meet-up schedules on Eventbrite, and Bandung is on the list. In the listings we saw, meet-ups in Bandung city were held at Kantina - Coffee & Space on 13 June and 18 July 2026, while in West Bandung, in the Cikalong Wetan district, meet-ups ran several times through 2026, one covering a basic introduction to financial assets such as gold, stocks, property and Bitcoin. According to the Eventbrite descriptions, tickets are free and the events discuss Bitcoin only, without pushing other coins. That is a sensible place to ask questions.

But an education forum is not a trading venue. If someone offers an "instant swap" or calls a counter "definitely safe", apply the five questions above. If someone claiming to be an admin messages you privately after you join a group, treat it as a scam until proven otherwise. The full pattern is in the crypto scams guide.

Large sums: why not Bandung

There is a tendency to conclude that a counter with a Rp5 billion limit suits large amounts. We would argue the opposite: for large sums, an OTC desk run by a licensed trader is the more sensible route, because you get a clear corporate identity, verification and bank settlement. Minimums are high, from about Rp50 million at Reku to Rp500 million at Indodax according to Blockchain Media in 2025, so it is not for beginners. Details are in the crypto OTC guide. Some desks start remotely (Pintu with an onboarding call, Ajaib over WhatsApp), so Bandung residents do not necessarily need to go to Jakarta. If you still want to meet in person, the Whoosh high-speed train links Padalarang and Tegalluar with Halim station in Jakarta, and the Jakarta guide explains what is actually at the players' head offices.

{{callout type="warn" title="Do not bring large cash to test the claim"}} If you want to check the Graha Pos counter yourself, go without significant cash, during working hours, and deposit nothing. There is no loss if the counter turns out not to exist. The loss is large if you arrive with tens of millions of rupiah and ask questions afterwards. For violent cases targeting crypto cash couriers elsewhere, see the Bali guide. {{/callout}}

Bandung and its neighbours

Regionally, Bandung is often paired with Jakarta, and many residents work in the capital. If you live on Jakarta's edges, read buying crypto in Tangerang, Bekasi and Depok for small-ticket and commuter arithmetic. In East Java, Surabaya tells a different story: a trading and port city without a single crypto counter we could find. Every city is listed in the locations hub.

In short, for today: do not head to Graha Pos with cash. Open a licensed app, finish e-KTP verification and try a first purchase of Rp50,000 to Rp100,000 via virtual account. That settles the "buy Bitcoin in Bandung" need without staking money on a claim we cannot prove.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Bitcoin ATM in Bandung?

We found no Bitcoin ATM in Bandung. The Coin ATM Radar directory, according to search snippets, lists one staffed Bitcoin Teller at Gedung Graha Pos, which is a counter run by people, not a machine. We could not open its page and could not verify its status.

Is it safe to buy Bitcoin at a no-KYC cash counter in Bandung?

We do not recommend it. A cash service with no identity checks does not appear on the OJK list of licensed traders we read, offers no OJK consumer protection, and collides with anti-money-laundering principles. The safer route is a licensed app and a bank account in your own name.

How do I verify a claimed Bitcoin counter or ATM?

Check the company name against the OJK whitelist, look for dated evidence from independent sources, contact the operator through official channels, compare its rate with a licensed app at the same minute, and never deposit money first. An answer of no KYC or no limit is a red flag.

Where can I legally buy Bitcoin in Bandung?

Through an OJK-licensed trader app such as Indodax, Pintu, Tokocrypto or Reku. Verify your e-KTP, top up rupiah from a bank account in your name by virtual account or QRIS, then buy. A first-timer typically needs 20 to 45 minutes, with no counter visit.

Can Bandung students buy Bitcoin with small amounts?

Yes, as long as you have an e-KTP and a bank account in your own name. Minimum buys are about Rp10,000 to Rp11,000 in licensed apps. Remember crypto prices can fall sharply, so use money you can afford to lose, not tuition or rent money.

Is there a Bitcoin community in Bandung?

Yes. Bitcoin Indonesia listed community meet-ups in Bandung city and West Bandung on Eventbrite during 2026, with free tickets according to the listing. They are learning forums, not cash trading venues. Never hand money to someone you just met at such an event.
