On this page
Crypto Indonesia publishes general information about buying, selling and securing crypto in Indonesia. This page explains what you can and cannot expect from that information. If a sentence elsewhere on the site sounds like a recommendation, this one prevails: it is not financial, tax or legal advice.
Not advice
We do not know your financial situation, goals, risk tolerance or tax obligations, and we are not an investment adviser, tax consultant or licensed law firm. Our writing is a general explanation drawn from the sources we read. The names of platforms, coins or buying methods that appear on this site are not an invitation to buy or sell any particular asset. For important decisions, especially about tax on crypto sales and the legal status of an activity, talk to a licensed professional who knows your circumstances. General discussion of tax is in crypto tax in Indonesia and of the law in is crypto legal in Indonesia; both are summaries, not legal opinions.
Real risks
Crypto prices can fall sharply in a short time, and you can lose all the money you put in. Platforms can stop operating or lose their licence, rules and taxes can change, and assets sent to a wrong address or to a scammer usually cannot be recovered. Transactions outside OJK-licensed platforms, including P2P on foreign platforms, unlicensed OTC and street cash swaps, have no OJK consumer protection, and some involve physical-safety risks that we document in buying crypto with cash and crypto scams in Indonesia. Do not invest money you need for basic living costs, or borrowed money.
Accuracy and dates
We try to be accurate and to show check dates, but we can be wrong, and facts change quickly. Fees, limits, licence status and tax rules listed here apply at the time we wrote them and may have changed by the time you read them. The CFX exchange, for instance, changed its trading fee on 1 October 2026. Some information comes from news reports or third-party directories because official pages could not be opened; we flag that in the text. Always check the platform's official page and OJK's licence list before you transact. How we work is explained in our methodology.
No relationship with regulators or platforms
We are not affiliated with OJK, Bank Indonesia, PPATK, the Directorate General of Taxes, Customs or any government body, and we do not speak for them. We quote their statements as sources. Nor are we affiliated with the platforms we review. Naming a licensed platform is not a guarantee that your funds are safe, and naming an offshore platform without an OJK licence is not a statement that it is legal or safe in Indonesia.
Call-to-action buttons
The coloured call-to-action buttons on many pages lead to CEX.IO, a service registered with the UK FCA and holding a US NMLS number, but not OJK-licensed and not supporting rupiah. You are not required to use them, and we suggest comparing OJK-licensed exchanges first. The full explanation is on the methodology and about us pages.
