This page explains how the Crypto Indonesia Editorial Team works, so you can judge for yourself how far our writing deserves trust. There are five points: we put official sources first, label every source by type, score with written criteria, and re-check on a schedule.

The order of sources we trust

We use five tiers, strongest first. First, official sources: OJK, Bank Indonesia, the Directorate General of Taxes, PPATK, Customs and the statistics agency. Second, the official pages and help centres of the companies we cover, for fees, limits and how their own products work. Third, news reports quoting official sources, which we use when the official page cannot be opened and we tell you that is the situation. Fourth, third-party directories and aggregators, such as ATM maps, which we mark as third-party. Fifth, operator claims, user reviews and forums, which we treat as claims. In the text the tier is always visible: "according to OJK", "according to press reports", "operator claim", "third-party directory".

Two binding rules. A figure resting on a single weak source is written as "according to one report" or left out. And we never invent a number, address or licence status to fill a gap.

Changing data

Fees, limits and licence status change. So we ask readers to open the platform's official page before depositing, and we update figures that change on the relevant page. For example, the CFX exchange cut its fee again on 1 October 2026, so fee figures we recorded before that date need re-checking. We keep years out of page titles so titles do not go stale.

When we cannot be sure

We write "we could not confirm" and explain what we tried. For instance, a third-party Bitcoin ATM directory blocked our automated access and we did not try to bypass it, so what comes from there is flagged as a search snippet with an unknown capture date. The legal status of an activity that no official statement covers is written as it is: "we found no clear official statement".

Review scoring

The scores on our reviews pages are editorial judgments from 1 to 5, not statistical averages and not technology tests. We assess fit for an Indonesian reader. The criteria: licence and protection for Indonesian users (largest weight), transparency about fees and legal entities, ease of rupiah deposits and withdrawals, clarity of identity verification, and fit for a particular type of user. Weights can differ between categories because local and offshore platforms are measured with different questions. As an example, our CEX.IO review uses 30% for licence and protection, 20% for transparency, 20% for fees, 20% for fit for rupiah users and 10% for fit for holders of USD, EUR or GBP cards, which produces 2.4 out of 5. Each review shows the reasoning behind its score in the text. A score goes up or down when the facts change, for example when a platform gains a licence or we find real withdrawal problems.

Offshore platforms without an OJK licence are never labelled "legal" or "safe" in Indonesia, whatever their score. A licensed local platform does not automatically get a high score, because the licence is only one criterion.

Re-check cycle

Our target for pages with fee, limit and licence data is a re-check at least every three months, and immediately after an announced change, such as the CFX fee change on 1 October 2026 or an addition to OJK's licence list. More explanatory pages, such as the guides, are checked when rules change. This target is a working intention, not a service guarantee; the date on each page always shows when the data was actually last checked.

Independence

Some coloured call-to-action buttons, including the one near the top of many pages, point to an overseas service that accepts cards, CEX.IO, which is not OJK-licensed and does not support rupiah. The parts that are unfavourable to that service are written in the opening paragraphs, and facts we cannot confirm are flagged. We do not put the button in every paragraph. See also about us and the disclaimer.

Corrections

We accept corrections through the contact page. Reports are checked against the original source; if they hold, the page is fixed and its date updated. A correction that changes one of our conclusions is written into the page text.
