Pintu is the OJK-licensed app that is easiest for beginners: one final price on screen, free virtual-account deposits, a Rp4,500 withdrawal and an e-KTP verification that can finish in minutes. The price of that convenience is the spread. Pintu charges no separate trading fee, and it does not publish the percentage of its price gap either, so you cannot calculate your exact cost from the fee page. Below we explain how it works, how to check the cost yourself, and where Pintu beats or trails Indodax and Tokocrypto. If you have never bought crypto, how to buy crypto in Indonesia gives the order of steps.
{{callout type="verify" title="Checked against sources"}} Deposit, withdrawal, KYC and tax data come from Pintu's official FAQ, read at the time. The CFX component changes tomorrow, 1 October 2026, from 0.0111% to 0.00555% (tax included). We did not read Pintu Pro fees from an official page, so we give no figure for them. We also publish no app-store rating and no user count, because the snapshots we saw were stale and the sources contradict each other. {{/callout}}
What Pintu is, and is it licensed?
Pintu launched in April 2020 and, per its footer, is based on the 46th floor of Trinity Tower, Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said Kav. C22, South Jakarta. The same footer says it is licensed and supervised by OJK and is a member of PT Central Finansial X (CFX) and PT Kliring Komoditi Indonesia (KKI). PT Pintu Kemana Saja is on the OJK list published by CNBC Indonesia on 19 December 2025 as a digital financial asset trader (PAKD). A licence number appeared only in a snippet of an app-store description, so we do not quote it. We could not open ojk.go.id directly from our research environment, so licence status rests on press copies of the list; match it yourself as described in our crypto scams guide. The legal background is in is crypto legal in Indonesia.
An honest note about user numbers: we found no official registered-account figure. The homepage says "7M+ downloads" and "300+ coins", while 2026 press coverage mentions 11 million downloads as of April 2026. Downloads are not active users, and the two figures differ, so we publish no user count.
"The price is final": how the spread model works
The main Pintu app has no order book. You see one buy price and one sell price and press the button. Pintu's FAQ says it charges no separate trading fee and that the price shown is final, with the transaction cost already included. The gap between buy and sell prices (the spread) moves with market conditions because Pintu sources prices from several markets. The percentage is not published.
The model is not bad in itself: for a beginner it removes the need to understand makers, takers and limit orders. The catch is that you must trust the displayed price. What is verifiable on Pintu's side are the components outside the spread: 0% VAT on buys, 0.21% income tax (PPh) on sales, and a CFX fee of 0.0111% until, then 0.00555% from 1 October (both tax included). The rules follow PMK 50/2025, set out in our crypto tax guide. Limits: a minimum of Rp11,000 per trade, no daily maximum, and for BTC, ETH and USDT a maximum of Rp1 billion per trade.
What do you really pay? Three spread scenarios
Because the spread percentage is unavailable, the honest approach is to show a range. The table below is illustrative: we assumed the spreads (they are not Pintu figures) for Rp1,000,000 over one buy-then-sell cycle. Fixed components in every row: CFX at 0.00555% in both directions (about Rp111 in total), 0.21% income tax on the sale (about Rp2,090) and the Rp4,500 withdrawal, roughly Rp6,700.
| Assumed spread per side | Spread cost | Plus fixed items | Approx. total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.2% | Rp4,000 | Rp6,700 | Rp10,700 (1.1%) |
| 0.5% | Rp10,000 | Rp6,700 | Rp16,700 (1.7%) |
| 1.0% | Rp20,000 | Rp6,700 | Rp26,700 (2.7%) |
The lesson: Pintu's fixed items are cheap (under Rp7,000), so the whole cost question comes down to the real spread. How to check it at home: at the same minute, note Pintu's buy and sell price for Bitcoin and compare them with the market price on another exchange such as Indodax or Reku. The difference is the hidden cost. Repeat it when the market is calm and when it is moving, because spreads widen when prices move fast.
Topping up: free virtual accounts, Rp50,000 minimum
Per the FAQ, Pintu accepts transfer or virtual account through Antar Bank, BCA, Mandiri, BRI and NOBU, plus the e-wallets QRIS, GoPay, LinkAja, ShopeePay, OVO and DANA. The minimum deposit is Rp50,000 for every method, with no maximum from Pintu. Pintu itself charges nothing on virtual accounts, but your sending bank may (the FAQ's example: Mandiri at Rp2,500). E-wallets: GoPay 2%, OVO 1.65%, DANA 1.65%, ShopeePay 1.5%. We did not find a QRIS fee on the pages we read.
What is not available, per the FAQ: credit cards, cash deposits at a bank teller (citing OJK Regulation 27/2024 as amended by Regulation 23/2025), and money from third-party accounts; funds must come from an account in your own name. The reasons behind the card refusal are in our credit card and PayPal guide and the cash route in buy crypto with cash. A cross-app comparison of e-wallets is in our GoPay, OVO, DANA guide. A simple yardstick: Rp1,000,000 via GoPay costs Rp20,000, while via a BCA virtual account Pintu's own charge is zero.
Verification: e-KTP only, 10 minutes to 24 hours
Indonesians must use an e-KTP; passports and driving licences are not accepted. After you upload the e-KTP and a selfie, the FAQ says processing takes a minimum of 10 minutes and a maximum of 1x24 hours if you submit between 08:00 and 23:59 WIB. So registering at 02:00 will not be processed as quickly as at midday. KYC can be done in the app or on Pintu Pro Web. An NPWP is not listed as a requirement. Users on basic KYC are limited to Rp500 million of withdrawals a day; advanced KYC raises the cap, but we do not repeat figures we did not read on an official page.
Withdrawing: Rp4,500 and about 15 minutes
This is Pintu's genuine strength. The official FAQ gives a flat Rp4,500 fee, a Rp50,000 minimum and a maximum of Rp500,000,000 per transaction or day to BCA, Mandiri, BNI, BRI, Permata, CIMB and Sahabat Sampoerna (Rp250,000,000 to other banks). The time is "usually around 15 minutes" outside bank downtime, for example BCA about 22:00 to 06:00 and Mandiri or BRI 23:00 to 04:00. Withdrawals above Rp250 million can take 1 to 2 business days. Against Rp10,000 at Indodax and Tokocrypto, the gap is Rp5,500 per withdrawal. Sending coins to another Pintu user is free; to an external address you pay a network fee per the table on Pintu's fee page, so keeping coins in your own wallet is supported. The full routine is in our guide to selling crypto for rupiah.
Security: homepage claims, not our audit
What you can check: the OJK licence and the CFX/KKI membership (above). What are company claims on the homepage: ISO 27001:2022 certification, and asset custody via PT Kustodian Koin Indonesia (ICC) and Fireblocks. We did not audit those claims and found no open audit report. From a secondary source (Pintu Academy's article on PADK 3/2026), OJK rules require at least 70% of customer crypto to sit with a licensed custody manager and at most 30% with the trader; that applies to every PAKD and is not a Pintu-specific advantage. On your side: switch on two-step authentication, never share OTP codes, and watch for fake accounts in Pintu's name, as discussed in our scam guide.
Pintu Pro, Futures and OTC: what we know
Pintu has a Pro interface with an order book. We could not confirm Pintu Pro's maker-taker percentages (one blog snippet cited 0.07% and 0.09% in a December 2025 promotion, another third-party source 0.12% and 0.17%, and we did not open the official Pro page), so we give no figure. For Pintu Futures, the official page states a 0.12% fee plus a CFX component, totalling 0.1755% for makers and 0.2865% for takers. Futures are high-risk and outside beginner territory, so we only record the numbers. For large sums, a Rp1.5 billion Pintu OTC minimum that appears in a search summary is unconfirmed; Pintu's own blog describes OTC as for large values with one-to-one consultation and states no minimum. Compare desks in our crypto OTC guide.
Who Pintu suits best
Picture two people. Dina wants to save Rp100,000 a week via a BCA virtual account: the Rp50,000 minimum is met, Pintu charges no deposit fee, and she never has to learn limit orders. For Dina, the final price on screen is a feature. Bayu often withdraws Rp500,000 to his bank: at Pintu that is Rp4,500 (about 0.9%), while at Indodax or Tokocrypto it is Rp10,000 (2%). But if Bayu buys Rp20 million and cares about a 0.1% gap (Rp20,000), he will be more comfortable on an order book where the percentage is visible. Pintu shines for small to mid-sized amounts and users who value simplicity.
Weaknesses
The biggest is spread opacity: no official percentage, so users must compare for themselves. Second, the Rp50,000 minimum deposit is higher than the Rp10,000 at Indodax, Tokocrypto and Reku. Third, the main app has no limit orders; anyone wanting to wait for a target price must switch to Pro. Fourth, the e-KTP is the only document for Indonesians, and review hours are limited. Fifth, we can publish no app-store rating. Sixth, user and download data conflict, so the real scale is unclear. Seventh, the homepage security claims are not accompanied by an audit report we could read.
Pintu compared with Indodax, Tokocrypto and Reku
Tokocrypto publishes percentages (0.2222% taker on IDR buys, 0.4322% on sells) and Pintu does not; Tokocrypto withdraws for Rp10,000 and charges 2% on e-wallet deposits, whereas Pintu withdraws for Rp4,500. Indodax has more coins and an order book, but we could not confirm its percentages either. Reku offers a Lightning mode with no platform fee (plus CFX and tax) and a Rp10,000 minimum deposit. The table summarises them; a longer list is in the best crypto exchanges.

| 3IndodaxVisit site Read review | Local OJK-licensed (PAKD), local | Tiered maker/taker; withdrawal Rp10,000 | Bank VA, QRIS 0.7%, e-wallets 1.5–2% | Big coin list, largest user base |
Our score: 4.2 out of 5
The 4.2 is an editorial judgement. In its favour: clear PAKD status, the simplest purchase flow, free virtual accounts, a Rp4,500 withdrawal (the cheapest of the three we reviewed), KYC that can be quick, and a detailed, easy-to-search FAQ. Against: an unpublished spread, the Rp50,000 minimum deposit and security claims not backed by an open audit. For beginners who prize simplicity and low withdrawal costs this is our first pick; for active users who want to control cost to the last decimal, an order-book mode elsewhere is more transparent. How we score is on our methodology page and other write-ups are in the reviews index. All figures are; open the official Pintu site for today's rates.
