Bybit Indonesia is Nobi under new ownership: Bybit bought a majority stake in PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal, the holder of an OJK trader licence (PAKD), and launched a local platform in mid-July 2026 with a claimed 500+ trading pairs. The licensed party is that local entity, not global Bybit. Because the platform was only about two and a half months old, the parts that matter most to your wallet (rates, deposit costs, withdrawal costs) could not be verified from any official source we could read. This review separates what is clear from what is not, and shows how to check for yourself before you send rupiah. For a comparison with published numbers, see Tokocrypto and Indodax; to understand why the name "Bybit" alone is not a guarantee, read is crypto legal in Indonesia.
{{callout type="verify" title="Checked against sources"}} Launch facts, ownership and management come from Bybit's press release (16 July 2026) and reports by Kompas and Antara. The licence status comes from the PAKD list reproduced by the press (5 June 2026), because ojk.go.id could not be opened from our research environment. We did not verify, and do not state, rates, deposit methods, withdrawal fees, limits or user numbers. We also publish no app-store rating because the snapshot we saw was stale. {{/callout}}
Bybit Indonesia and global Bybit are two different things
This is the easiest mistake to make. Global Bybit (bybit.com) is an international exchange that is not licensed in Indonesia. In July 2024 Kominfo blocked the Instagram accounts of Bybit Indonesia, Bitget, Binance, KuCoin and MEXC at the request of Bappebti and OJK, according to CNN Indonesia, because none had a local licence. The Bybit Indonesia launched in July 2026 is something else: it is run by PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal, which operates under OJK supervision as a digital financial asset trader (PAKD). So "Bybit is legal in Indonesia" is true only for the app and domain belonging to the local entity.
According to Jawa Pos, Bybit describes Indonesia as a "long-term market" to be run with compliance and a local team rather than opportunistic expansion. The press release names bybit.id as the local site. When we tried it, the page we received carried English-language global Bybit metadata, and we did not get a legal page that clearly describes the Indonesian entity. That may be a redirect or an update in progress, but it is a reason not to simply type "bybit" into a search engine. We also cannot confirm whether a global account and a local account are linked. Assume they are separate.
From Nobi to Bybit: a short timeline
Nobi was known as a local crypto app with a simple approach. PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal appears on the OJK list as a PAKD under the name Nobi, both on the list reproduced by the press on 19 December 2025 and on the 26-name list published by Investortrust on 5 June 2026. Then Bybit took a majority stake. The percentage was not disclosed. On closing dates, our sources disagree: one report places the acquisition in April 2026, and a search summary said February 2026 after OJK approval. We could not reconcile the two, so we state no closing date.
The new platform was reported launched in mid-July 2026, with the exact day differing between sources: 15, 16 or 17 July. The PR Newswire release is dated 16 July. According to Kompas, the local leadership is CEO Lawrence Samantha and COO Dionisius Evan, both ex-Nobi, with Steven Gotama as CMO. The continuity matters: in our reading it is the plausible reason the platform opened under an existing licence rather than applying for a new one from scratch.
Is the licence real, and how to check it
Status: PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal is listed as a PAKD on two press-reproduced lists, CNBC Indonesia on 19 December 2025 and Investortrust on 5 June 2026. What we could not see is a recent, dated OJK list showing the brand name "Bybit Indonesia". Brand names and company names can change faster than list documents, so run the check yourself in this order.
- Open the PAKD list on the OJK site (menu: Perizinan ITSK, Aset Keuangan Digital, dan Aset Kripto) and search for "PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal".
- Match the domain and app name you are using with what is listed. The same brand on another domain is not the licensed entity.
- Open the app and find the company name in the about or terms section. It should read PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal, not a foreign company.
- If in doubt, call OJK's contact line 157 with the company name and domain. {{/steps}}
The same steps work for any app, and the reasoning is in our crypto scams guide: fake accounts that borrow a big brand name are a classic pattern, and a fresh launch is the best moment for scammers to pose as "support staff".
What is clear and what is not: fees, deposits, withdrawals
What was announced: more than 500 trading pairs, spot markets, real-time transaction monitoring, risk controls said to match OJK and global standards, local education through Bybit Learn, and gradual product expansion in line with OJK requirements. The 500+ figure is a company claim; we have not counted the pairs shown in the app.
What was not announced in any source we could read: trading fee percentages, deposit costs and minimums via virtual account or e-wallet, withdrawal fees and limits, and service hours. One third-party review quotes specific figures for trading, deposits and withdrawals, but no second source matches them, and we do not repeat numbers we cannot confirm. To see how much better informed a reader can be elsewhere, Tokocrypto publishes its whole fee table and Pintu publishes its Rp4,500 withdrawal fee. Bybit Indonesia is not at that level yet.
One thing does apply for certain, because it is a PAKD: sales carry the 0.21% final income tax (PPh Article 22) under PMK 50/2025, collected by the platform, and there is no VAT on buying or selling the crypto itself. The full rules and worked examples are in our crypto tax guide, and the primary source is the tax office. The exchange-fee component (CFX) changes at every PAKD from 1 October 2026; whether and how that shows up in Bybit Indonesia's rates we cannot yet show.
If you are an existing Nobi user
The local leadership stressed a "planned transition" and clear communication for Nobi users. We found no technical detail: whether accounts migrate automatically, whether re-verification is needed, whether there is a deadline, and whether rates change. Three safe habits: read only announcements inside the app or on the official site, never hand OTP codes or recovery phrases to a "migration officer" who contacts you by private message, and if you hold a large balance, withdraw part of it to your bank account or a self-custody wallet until your transition path is clear. That is our general advice, not an instruction from Bybit.
Can I use a global bybit.com account from Indonesia?
Technically the global site can be reached, and Bybit P2P showed active rupiah markets when we checked (about 155 ads on one side and 103 on the other, with USDT priced at roughly Rp17,560 to Rp18,000 in the snapshot). But no source states the access status for Indonesian users on the global site after the local launch. Global Bybit is not OJK-licensed. That means no OJK supervision or complaints channel, and a sale on a foreign platform carries a 1% final income tax rather than 0.21% under the same rules. We are not saying individual users commit a crime, and we are not saying the route is lawful; we simply found no official statement deciding either way. The bank-account-freeze risk on P2P routes is covered in our P2P crypto guide, and the status of another global platform in our Binance review.
Bybit Indonesia compared with Tokocrypto and Indodax
The fairest comparison today is about transparency, not features. Tokocrypto publishes a full fee table (IDR buy taker 0.2222%, sell 0.4322%, as published 18 June 2026) and Indodax publishes a detailed deposit-fee table and a Rp10,000 withdrawal fee, although we also could not confirm Indodax's maker-taker percentages. Bybit Indonesia has one advantage you can check: a large global brand behind it and the 500+ pair claim, which for some people means wider asset choice. On the other side, we have no evidence of user numbers, rupiah market depth or withdrawal speed. The table below pulls data from our site database; the "not verified" cells reflect reality, not carelessness.
| Platform | Status in Indonesia | Main fees | Rupiah top-up | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1Bybit IndonesiaVisit site Read review | Local Local entity (ex-Nobi), OJK-licensed | Not verified yet | Check the Bybit Indonesia app | New entrant, 500+ pairs |
| 2TokocryptoVisit site Read review | Local OJK-licensed (PAKD), local | IDR buy taker 0.2222%, sell 0.4322% | Bank VA, QRIS & e-wallets 2% | Transparent fee table |
| 3IndodaxVisit site Read review | Local OJK-licensed (PAKD), local | Tiered maker/taker; withdrawal Rp10,000 | Bank VA, QRIS 0.7%, e-wallets 1.5–2% | Big coin list, largest user base |

Who it suits, and when to wait
Picture Sari, a long-time Nobi user comfortable with the app. She does not need to move; what she should do is read the transition notice and match the new domain. Now picture Andi, who wants to start with Rp2,000,000 and wants to know what gets deducted. Andi cannot work that out here because the rates are not verified; it is easier to start on a platform whose table you can read first, and switch if Bybit Indonesia later publishes numbers. A third group wants broader asset choice: the 500+ pair claim is attractive, but first check that your coin really exists there, and whether its pair is in rupiah or USDT. The latter means two trades and 0.21% income tax each time you sell, as explained in our guide to selling crypto for rupiah.
When to wait: if you have never bought crypto and want a first step you can trace, start with how to buy crypto in Indonesia. If you are moving a large amount, wait until there is an official fee table and withdrawal limit you can note down and compare.
Real weaknesses
First, rates and withdrawal fees cannot yet be verified. Second, brand confusion: the bybit.id domain we tried carried global metadata, and the name "Bybit" is shared with a global platform that is not licensed. Third, the platform is about two and a half months old, so there is no operating track record (withdrawal speed at busy times, customer service quality). Fourth, the Nobi user transition is not explained in detail in the sources we read. Fifth, we can publish no user count or app-store rating. Sixth, media disagree on the timing of the acquisition.
Our score: 3.4 out of 5 (provisional)
The 3.4 is an editorial judgement that we consider provisional. Pluses: a PAKD licence through a registered local entity, continuous local leadership from Nobi, a global brand behind it, and the 500+ pair claim. Minuses: rates and withdrawal fees not published in sources we could read, the risk of mistaking global Bybit for Bybit Indonesia, and a short track record. We will raise the score once an official fee page, deposit and withdrawal policy and Nobi transition details can be read and match the claims. Our scoring approach is in the methodology and other reviews are in the review index. Everything is; check the official app and the OJK list yourself before depositing.

Frequently asked questions
Is Bybit Indonesia legal and licensed by OJK?
The licence is held by PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal (Nobi), listed as a digital financial asset trader (PAKD) on the OJK list reproduced by the press on 5 June 2026. Bybit bought a majority stake and launched Bybit Indonesia in mid-July 2026. Match the name and domain against OJK's latest list.
Is Bybit Indonesia the same as global Bybit?
No. Bybit Indonesia is run by a local OJK-licensed entity, while the global Bybit.com platform is not licensed in Indonesia. We could not confirm whether accounts or balances are linked, so treat them as two products with different terms, protections and tax treatment.
What is the link between Bybit Indonesia and Nobi?
Nobi is the brand of PT Enkripsi Teknologi Handal. Bybit bought a majority stake, and the old team still leads it: CEO Lawrence Samantha and COO Dionisius Evan both come from Nobi. The size of the stake was not disclosed. Existing Nobi users should read the official transition notices.
What are Bybit Indonesia's trading fees?
We could not verify them. The launch press release gave no rates, and one third-party review quoted figures we found nowhere else, so we do not repeat them. Check the fee page inside the app before depositing. On the sell side, the 0.21% final income tax applies at every licensed PAKD.
How many trading pairs does Bybit Indonesia offer?
At the mid-July 2026 launch Bybit cited more than 500 trading pairs, spot markets, and gradual product expansion in line with OJK requirements. That is a company claim from the press release. We have not counted the pairs shown in the app ourselves.
Can people in Indonesia use global bybit.com?
The global site can be reached, but global Bybit is not OJK-licensed, and Kominfo blocked Bybit Indonesia's Instagram account in July 2024. We found no source on access rules after the local launch. There is no OJK supervision or complaints channel there, and sales carry 1% income tax.
