Indodax is a locally licensed exchange with the largest user base in Indonesia, and for most people it is a sound place to trade as long as you accept two caveats: we cannot give you its exact trading-fee percentages, and its fee structure changes tomorrow, 1 October 2026. Its strengths are a wide coin list, a cheap flat withdrawal fee and a busy market. Its weaknesses are a busier interface for beginners and a tiered fee system that takes effort to read. If you are still choosing between apps, start with our ranking of the best crypto exchanges in Indonesia and come back for the Indodax detail.

{{callout type="verify" title="Checked against sources"}} Deposit and withdrawal data come from Indodax's own Help Center, which we read on this date. The main site, indodax.com, sits behind a CAPTCHA challenge that we did not try to bypass, so we did not read the official maker/taker table. Indodax itself announced that from 1 October 2026 its transaction fees move to an all-in structure. Open the Indodax Help Center and re-check every number below before you top up. {{/callout}}

Licence status: what "OJK-licensed" means here

Since 10 January 2025, crypto supervision has sat with Indonesia's Financial Services Authority (OJK), not Bappebti. The licence is now called Pedagang Aset Keuangan Digital (PAKD). PT Indodax Nasional Indonesia is among the 29 names OJK published on 19 December 2025, as reproduced by CNBC Indonesia, and the Help Center describes it as a regulated physical crypto asset trader. On OJK figures quoted by Investortrust, Indodax had about 9.9 million users, or 46.5% of the national total, in March 2026, and Rp8.45 trillion (38%) of trading value. The company itself, in September 2026 press coverage, claims more than 10 million members. Both count accounts, not unique people.

To be straight about our limits: ojk.go.id refused connections from our research environment, so the licence status comes from press copies of the OJK list. That is why we urge you to match the name and domain against the live list, a step covered in our guide to crypto scams. The wider legal picture is in is crypto legal in Indonesia.

Who Indodax suits

Indodax fits three kinds of user. First, people who want choice beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum; the app advertises "hundreds" of coins, though we did not verify an exact count. Second, people who move rupiah in and out in mid-sized amounts, because the Rp10,000 withdrawal fee is flat and the Rp5 billion per-transaction ceiling is generous. Third, traders who want an order book (PRO mode) and limit orders, since a busy market usually means tighter buy-sell gaps.

If you want a single "buy" button and do not want to decode fees, a fixed-price app such as Pintu is friendlier, and if you want a fee table published with actual percentages, Tokocrypto is more transparent. Indodax has two modes: LITE (instant buy, charged as a taker) and PRO (order book). The minimum order is Rp10,000 on LITE and Rp25,000 on PRO.

Depositing rupiah: what each method costs

Indodax's Help Center table shows the deposit fees below. (The source table has two columns, for amounts below and above Rp500,000, but one value per row was displayed, so we copied it as shown.)

MethodFeeMinimum
BCA Direct (bank transfer)Rp0Rp100,000
Mandiri and BRI virtual accountRp1,665Rp10,000
BCA virtual accountRp3,330Rp10,000
INA / Artha Graha virtual accountRp2,000 / Rp1,000Rp10,000
QRIS0.7%Rp10,000
DANA, OVO1.67%Rp10,000
GoPay2%Rp10,000
ShopeePay1.5%Rp10,000

In practice, on a Rp5 million top-up BCA Direct is free and a Mandiri virtual account costs Rp1,665, while QRIS already costs Rp35,000 and GoPay Rp100,000. E-wallets and QRIS earn their place by being fast and running 24/7, not by being cheap. A cross-platform comparison of these routes is in our guide to buying crypto with GoPay, OVO, DANA and QRIS. Two things we did not find on the fee page we read: convenience-store deposits (Alfamart/Indomaret) and cards; the reasons are explained in our credit card and PayPal guide. Funds must come from a bank account in your own name.

Trading costs: what we know and what we could not confirm

This is the section where we are most careful. Verified in the Help Center: the model is maker-taker; LITE is a market order and is therefore charged as a taker; LITE and PRO share the same schedule; and the all-in fee is made up of Indodax's service fee, tax and the CFX exchange fee. Not verified: the maker and taker percentages themselves. The indodax.com/market-fee page is behind a CAPTCHA, and third-party sites disagree (for instance 0.15% and 0.25% as base rates in one place, and an "all-in 0.2948% maker, 0.3248% taker" in another). We are not publishing any of these as fact.

What is certain is that things change: the Help Center says that, effective 1 October 2026, Indodax adjusts its transaction fee structure to all-in fees to follow CFX-KKI Joint Circular 001/SEB2026. Between March and September 2026, IDR pairs on Indodax showed a CFX fee of 0.0111% (0.0222% on USDT pairs). After the change your total may differ. On tax, under PMK 50/2025 there is no VAT (PPN) on buying or selling crypto, and the final 0.21% income tax (PPh Article 22) is withheld only when you sell (tax office); Indodax shows it inside the all-in breakdown in your profile. Worked tax examples are in our crypto tax guide.

Withdrawing to a bank: fee and timing

Per the Help Center, a rupiah withdrawal costs Rp10,000 (plus Rp1,000 if you pick SMS OTP), with a minimum of Rp100,000 and a maximum of Rp5 billion per transaction. Transfers to major banks are described as real-time outside bank downtime. Indodax also publishes delay windows per bank; for example, a BCA request made between 22:00 and 04:59 lands after 05:00. Withdrawals above Rp250 million to other banks go through SKN or RTGS during bank business hours. If the money has not arrived after 1x24 hours, Indodax says to contact support. Compare that with Rp4,500 at Pintu or Rp10,000 at Tokocrypto; the step-by-step is in our guide to selling crypto for rupiah.

KYC: app-only, matched against Dukcapil

Indodax verification can only be completed in the mobile app. Indonesians use the e-KTP; foreigners use a passport. You scan the ID, pass a liveness (face) check matched against Dukcapil population data, then fill in personal details: address, occupation, source of funds and purpose. The Help Center gives no review time, so we give you no minutes, and if you are in a hurry do not count on an instant result. On NPWP, Indodax writes that Indonesians resident in Indonesia need not be concerned, because the NPWP is matched through the NIK and may not be requested separately; diaspora and foreigners supply their home tax ID. We found no per-level daily limits on any official page we could read.

A worked example: buy Rp1,000,000 of Bitcoin, then cash out

The arithmetic here is illustrative. We do not know Indodax's taker percentage, so we use an assumed 0.3% purely to show the method; substitute the rate shown in your account. The price is assumed not to move.

  1. Deposit Rp1,000,000 via BCA Direct: fee Rp0. Via QRIS at 0.7%, the fee is Rp7,000.
  2. Buy Bitcoin in LITE mode with an assumed 0.3% all-in taker fee: about Rp3,000. About Rp997,000 of value lands in your balance.
  3. Sell the Rp997,000 back, assuming 0.3% and the 0.21% income tax: roughly Rp2,991 plus Rp2,094, so Rp5,085.
  4. Withdraw to your bank: Rp10,000 (Rp11,000 with SMS OTP). {{/steps}}

The full round trip via BCA Direct costs roughly Rp18,000 to Rp19,000, about 1.8% of your capital at this tiny size; via QRIS roughly Rp25,000 to Rp26,000. The lesson: on small trades the flat Rp10,000 withdrawal fee dominates, so withdraw one larger sum rather than many small ones. If you hold the coins for months, deposit and withdrawal costs shrink next to price moves.

Security: company claims versus what you can check

On the official pages we could read, we found no detailed description of Indodax's cold storage, audits or insurance, so we are not repeating any security claim as fact. What you can check yourself: first, that the domain and legal entity match the OJK list. Second, switch on two-step authentication and avoid SMS-based codes where an alternative exists. Third, never give an OTP to a "Indodax agent"; impostors posing as support are a standard scam, covered in our scam guide. On the regulatory side, OJK rules require traders to keep most customer assets with a licensed custody manager (roughly a 70:30 split according to Pintu Academy, a secondary source that applies to all PAKDs, not an Indodax-specific claim). For large long-term sums, consider moving coins to a wallet of your own; per the Help Center, coin deposits carry no deposit fee and withdrawals carry only a network fee.

Weaknesses

First, fee transparency: today we cannot hand you one official maker/taker number, and the all-in structure changes on 1 October. For anyone who wants to calculate costs before buying, that is frustrating. Second, the CAPTCHA wall on the main site makes checking data hard for researchers, although ordinary users rarely notice it. Third, there are no cash or credit card deposits. Fourth, verification is app-only, so there is no alternative route if your phone camera is poor. Fifth, e-wallet and QRIS fees of 0.7% to 2% are well above bank transfers; that applies across the market. Sixth, OTC details exist only as snippets: a reported Rp500 million minimum (another source says Rp1 billion) with no official confirmation we could read; see how other desks compare in our OTC guide. We also do not publish app-store ratings, because the pages we saw showed old update dates.

How Indodax compares with its neighbours

On published fees, Tokocrypto lists a 0.2222% taker on IDR buys and 0.4322% on sells in its 18 June 2026 table, but charges 2% on QRIS and e-wallets and the same Rp10,000 to withdraw. Pintu charges no separate trading fee (you pay a spread), withdraws for Rp4,500, but has a Rp50,000 minimum deposit. Reku and Pluang stand out for 0% platform fees on instant orders. The table below sets out the starting points.

In short: Indodax wins on scale and coin choice, loses on openness about fees, and ties on withdrawal cost. If your goal is a simple first purchase, our guide on how to buy crypto in Indonesia shows steps that work in any of these apps.

Our score: 4.1 out of 5

The 4.1 is an editorial judgement, not a statistical average. In its favour: PAKD status, the largest user base on OJK data quoted in the press, zero or low bank-deposit fees, a flat Rp10,000 withdrawal with a high cap, and a wide coin list. Against: trading percentages we could not verify, the 1 October fee change, app-only KYC and thin public security detail. For active users comfortable reading tariffs themselves, it is a strong option; for a complete beginner, Pintu may feel simpler. How we score is explained on our methodology page, and every other write-up is in the reviews index. All figures are; open the official Indodax site and its Help Center for today's tariffs.

Frequently asked questions

Is Indodax legal and licensed by OJK?

Yes. PT Indodax Nasional Indonesia appears as a digital financial asset trader (PAKD) on the OJK list of 19 December 2025 as reproduced by the press, and Indodax's Help Center calls itself a regulated trader. We could not open ojk.go.id directly, so check the live whitelist before depositing.

What are Indodax's trading fees?

Indodax uses a maker-taker model and, from 1 October 2026, moves to an all-in fee covering Indodax's charge, tax and the CFX exchange fee. We could not confirm the exact percentages because its official fee page sits behind a CAPTCHA and third-party figures conflict. Check the fee page inside your account.

How much does it cost to withdraw rupiah from Indodax?

A bank withdrawal costs Rp10,000, plus Rp1,000 if you use SMS OTP verification. The minimum is Rp100,000 and the maximum Rp5 billion per transaction. Per the Help Center, major banks are normally real-time outside bank downtime; contact support if nothing arrives within 1x24 hours.

What is the cheapest way to top up Indodax?

Per the Help Center table, BCA Direct is free with a Rp100,000 minimum. Mandiri and BRI virtual accounts cost Rp1,665, BCA Rp3,330. QRIS is 0.7%; DANA and OVO 1.67%, GoPay 2%, ShopeePay 1.5%. For larger amounts, bank routes are cheaper.

Does Indodax require an NPWP tax number?

Per its Help Center, Indonesian citizens resident in Indonesia need not worry about NPWP because tax data is matched through the NIK and may not be requested separately. Foreigners and diaspora provide their home tax ID. Verification happens in the app with an e-KTP and a face check.

Does Indodax offer OTC for large trades?

According to a snippet of Indodax's blog that we could not open in full, its OTC desk reportedly starts around Rp500 million (another source says Rp1 billion). We have not verified this and minimums change. For small buyers the regular market is far more practical; see our OTC guide.
