The most sensible way to buy Bitcoin in Jakarta is through an OJK-licensed trader app, funded with rupiah from a bank account in your own name. Jakarta is where many of the players have their head offices, but that does not mean there is a counter where you can walk in with banknotes and walk out with Bitcoin. We found no confirmed, operating Bitcoin ATM in the capital, and the claim of a single machine at Ratu Plaza is still only a claim. This page maps what genuinely exists in the city, what you can do today from your home, kos or office in Jakarta, and where the line sits between a route that makes sense and one that only looks easy. The general framework lives in how to buy crypto in Indonesia; this page stays with what is specific to Jakarta.
{{callout type="verify" title="Checked against sources"}} We took the addresses below from official sites, news reports or each company's own help pages, and cross-checked them where we could. Platform fees may change after 1 October 2026 because of the exchange (CFX) fee adjustment. Before you deposit money, re-check the official fee page and confirm that the platform's name and web address appear on the OJK whitelist. {{/callout}}
What actually exists in Jakarta
Jakarta has roughly 10.7 million residents according to BPS's 2025 survey, while Dukcapil's civil-registry data counts about 10.9 million in the second half of 2025. The numbers differ because the methods differ. What is clear is that nearly every institution that regulates or runs crypto trading in Indonesia sits here. The table lists what we could verify and what it means for an ordinary buyer.
| Who | Where | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| OJK (Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi office) | Wisma Mulia 2, Jl. Gatot Subroto Kav. 42, Mampang Prapatan | The crypto regulator. To check a licence or report a problem, Contact 157 is easier |
| Bank Indonesia | Jl. MH Thamrin No. 2 | Oversees the rupiah and payments. Licensed money changers register with BI |
| PPATK | Jl. Ir. H. Juanda No. 35, Gambir | The financial intelligence unit, and why cash without identity raises eyebrows |
| Pintu | Trinity Tower, 46th floor, Jl. HR Rasuna Said | Head office of an OJK-licensed app, not a cash deposit point |
| Upbit Indonesia | Menara Astra, 12th floor, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman Kav. 5-6 | Head office of a licensed trader; trading still runs through the app |
| Indodax | Millennium Centennial Center, Jl. Jenderal Sudirman Kav. 25, plus a Customer Center in Pondok Indah | Office and service centre, not a cash counter |
Two notes matter here. First, a head-office address is not a trading counter. Antara reported that Indodax's Customer Center in Pondok Indah (Jl. Sultan Iskandar Muda 13B), opened on 2 February 2024, offers customer support, the Indodax Academy and a content studio, with no mention of handling cash. Second, we verified the Pintu and Upbit addresses on their official sites, while the Indodax address comes from its help pages, and Tokocrypto (which third-party directories place around Senayan and Kuningan) we have not matched ourselves. If you want to visit any of them, contact official support first and ask what is served at that office. For a comparison of features and fees, see best crypto exchanges in Indonesia, then the Pintu or Indodax reviews.
Bitcoin ATM Jakarta: Ratu Plaza, Glodok and what remains unproven
People who search "bitcoin atm jakarta" usually want two names: Ratu Plaza and Glodok. Our status for both is unconfirmed. The guide to Bitcoin ATMs in Indonesia lays out the full evidence, so here we only add Jakarta context.
Ratu Plaza stands at Jl. Jenderal Sudirman Kav. 9, in the Gelora subdistrict of Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. According to Wikipedia, the mall opened on 12 December 1980, is known for serving buyers of tech products and sits near the Senayan Mastercard MRT station. The Journalarta article of 2 July 2026 that mentions a General Bytes GB200 there places it on the "ground floor, South Jakarta". The mall's address, however, is in Central Jakarta, one more detail that does not match. A directory gives the 3rd floor, the article says ground floor, one directory page carries a Hong Kong title and HKD notes, and no operator is named. Our conclusion has not changed: the claim is unproven, and you should not travel with cash on that claim alone.
Glodok is older. A third-party directory (Bitcoin ATM Map) lists "LTC Glodok" at Jl. Hayam Wuruk No. 127, West Jakarta, ground floor, block B2. Entries like this date from a time when Indonesia's machine lists were busier, and we found no evidence that the machine was switched on in 2026. A Telkomsel article from June 2026 even says Bitcoin ATMs no longer operate publicly. Our status for Glodok: unknown, probably dead.
If you still want to check for yourself, do it like a detective, not a buyer: go during mall hours without significant cash, ask the information desk or building management, photograph the result with a date, and deposit nothing. There is no loss if the machine turns out not to exist. There is a real loss if you arrive with ten million rupiah.
From cash to Bitcoin in Jakarta, step by step
Most people searching for a Bitcoin ATM are simply holding banknotes. Jakarta has an advantage many regions lack: cash deposit machines and bank branches sit in almost every office block and shopping centre. That is the raw material for a legitimate route.
- Pick one app whose company name and web address are on the OJK whitelist. As a starting point, compare Indodax, Pintu, Tokocrypto, Reku or Pluang.
- Register and verify with your e-KTP and a selfie. Pintu quotes 10 minutes to 24 hours for submissions between 08:00 and 23:59 WIB, Tokocrypto about one business day. This is the biggest bottleneck, so do it first.
- Deposit the cash into a bank account in your own name at a teller or cash deposit machine. Licensed apps do not accept cash directly, and Pintu states that funds must come from an account in your own name.
- Top up rupiah in the app. Virtual accounts are free at Pintu (minimum Rp50,000), and at Indodax about Rp1,665 for a Mandiri virtual account per its help page. QRIS costs 0.7 percent at Indodax, Reku and Pluang, but 2 percent at Tokocrypto.
- Buy Bitcoin using the instant-buy mode. The minimum is Rp11,000 at Pintu and Rp10,000 in Indodax's LITE mode. {{/steps}}
A concrete example: you have Rp2,000,000 in cash from a bonus. Deposit it into your BCA or Mandiri account, top up through a virtual account, buy. Apart from the spread, the cost is close to nothing at Pintu. If you would rather skip the deposit machine and top up Rp500,000 by QRIS, 0.7 percent is Rp3,500 at Indodax, while 2 percent at Tokocrypto is Rp10,000. For small amounts, choose a virtual account unless you need the money to arrive this second. Top-up methods are compared in the guide to buying crypto with GoPay, OVO and DANA, and the cash question gets its own treatment in buying crypto with cash.
One tip that suits Jakarta workers: watch bank downtime when withdrawing. Pintu's FAQ mentions withdrawals to BCA may be disrupted around 22:00 to 06:00 and to Mandiri or BRI around 23:00 to 04:00. Sell at midnight and the money arrives in the morning. The guide to selling crypto for rupiah details withdrawal fees per platform, and do not forget crypto tax: a final 0.21 percent PPh 22 is withheld when you sell, so selling Rp1,000,000 means Rp2,100 in tax.
If you are an expat or newcomer in Jakarta
Jakarta hosts many foreign workers and students, and their first question is nearly always the same: can I open an account? From what we read, Indodax accepts the e-KTP for Indonesian citizens and a passport for foreigners. Tokocrypto's help page mentions a KITAS, KITAP or certain visas for foreigners (we only saw that text through a search snippet), and Reku mentions a passport plus KITAS or KITAP. Whether short-stay visitors can open an account at a licensed trader is something we could not confirm for each platform. Ask support before you plan to deposit.
One thing newcomers often forget: being allowed to buy Bitcoin is not the same as being allowed to pay with it. The rupiah is the only legal tender in Indonesia, and Bank Indonesia has repeatedly said Bitcoin is not a payment instrument. You may hold and trade it through a licensed trader, but a shop on Sudirman or a mall in Kelapa Gading may not accept Bitcoin as payment. The legal guide explains the details.
Large sums: OTC desks
When you are holding hundreds of millions of rupiah rather than millions, typing a big figure into a retail app can move the price. That is where OTC desks come in. According to Blockchain Media on 21 September 2025, local minimums run about Rp50 million at Reku, Rp100 million at Ajaib, Rp150 million at Bittime and Rp500 million at Indodax (another source says Rp1 billion). A Pintu figure of about Rp1.5 billion we found only in a search summary, so it is unconfirmed. Tokocrypto launched OTC on 6 November 2025, with a minimum near US$10,000 for USDT against rupiah. Indodax's claim that 96 percent of OTC trades settle within 15 minutes is the company's own.
Jakarta plays the hub role here, but not because you have to show up. Pintu, for instance, begins with an onboarding call, Ajaib handles requests over WhatsApp, and all of them demand identity verification. We checked office locations only for Indodax, Pintu and Tokocrypto, so we do not claim that every desk sits in the city. Minimums, settlement and what to ask are covered in the crypto OTC guide.
Meet-ups, "convert services" and money changers: where is the line?
Jakarta has plenty of ads for "USDT convert services" and "crypto to cash". The pattern we found: small providers that pay out to a bank account or e-wallet, not cash. One example is a convert-service site based in Majalengka that pays to DANA, OVO, GoPay, ShopeePay or banks. A search summary also mentions a "cash-to-cash OTC" service in Jakarta whose page we could not open, so its status is unverified. Our conclusion: we found no shop or money changer in Jakarta that accepts USDT or Bitcoin and can be verified.
Money changers (KUPVA BB) are foreign-exchange businesses supervised by Bank Indonesia, not crypto shops. If someone claims to be a licensed money changer and offers Bitcoin, first check their licence status through the list of licensed institutions on the Bank Indonesia site or the BI Contact Center at 131, and remember that a forex licence does not automatically mean a crypto licence. We found no clear official statement on the legality of crypto-for-cash swaps by unlicensed operators, so treat that route as risky and take legal advice if the amount is large.
P2P on foreign platforms is another route people mention. At the time of our check, Binance P2P showed about 230 buy-side and 391 sell-side ads for USDT against rupiah, at roughly Rp17,850 to Rp17,877 per USDT. Ad counts move within hours. The payment methods we saw were bank transfers and e-wallets, not in-person cash. The platform is not OJK-licensed, and bank accounts can get frozen. Read P2P crypto in Indonesia before trying, and the crypto scams guide if someone posing as "admin" offers help.
{{callout type="warn" title="Do not bring cash to a stranger"}} In our research, the documented violent cases targeting crypto holders and cash couriers happened in Bali, not Jakarta (see the Bali guide). But we did not collect Jakarta crime data, so that is no guarantee of safety. The practical rule is the same everywhere: never hand cash to someone you just met on social media, and never transfer money first before the recipient's identity is clear. {{/callout}}
Conferences and communities: a stage is not a licence
Jakarta is also where the industry meets. Indonesia Blockchain Week, which its organisers call a leading institutional Web3 conference in Southeast Asia, ran on 12 and 13 August 2026 at the Jakarta International Convention Center in Senayan, targeting more than 12,500 attendees according to BlockDelta. That article lists among its supporters platforms OJK said it acted against in August 2026, such as Binance and OKX, alongside the licensed Tokocrypto. It is a good example of why a logo on a conference stage is not proof of a licence. The licence lives on the OJK whitelist.
At community level, Bitcoin Indonesia runs regular meet-ups listed on Eventbrite, including at cafés in Menteng and in Tanjung Duren, West Jakarta, during 2026. They are about Bitcoin education. Such meet-ups are a good place to ask questions and learn, not a place to hand over cash. If someone offers an "instant swap" on the sidelines, politely answer that you use a licensed app.
Where to go from Jakarta
Most readers in Jakarta actually live on its edges. If you are in Tangerang, Bekasi or Depok, read buying crypto in Tangerang, Bekasi and Depok, which covers small tickets and commuter habits. For other big Java cities see Bandung, where a single staffed crypto counter appears in a directory, and Surabaya. The wider picture is in the locations hub and crypto across Indonesian islands.
In short, Jakarta offers the best access to licensed apps, customer support and banks, but no physical shortcut. For today, the most useful step is to open a licensed app, finish e-KTP verification, and make a small first purchase, say Rp50,000 to Rp100,000, before moving a large sum. If you find a machine or counter in Jakarta that genuinely operates and can be proven, send the details to contact@crypto-indonesia.com and we will check it.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy Bitcoin in Jakarta?
You do not need to visit any office. Install an OJK-licensed trader app such as Indodax, Pintu, Tokocrypto or Reku, verify your e-KTP, top up rupiah by virtual account or QRIS from a bank account in your own name, then buy. A first-timer typically needs 20 to 45 minutes.
Is there a Bitcoin ATM in Jakarta?
We found no confirmed, operating Bitcoin ATM in Jakarta. A July 2026 article claims one machine at Ratu Plaza, but it names no operator and offers no independent proof, so we could not verify it. Do not carry cash on that claim alone. Details are in our Bitcoin ATM guide.
Can I buy Bitcoin with cash in Jakarta?
Licensed apps do not take cash deposits directly. The defensible route is to deposit cash into a bank account in your own name at a teller or deposit machine, then top up rupiah in the app. We found no verifiable cash-for-crypto shop in Jakarta.
What are the crypto OTC minimums in Jakarta?
Blockchain Media (September 2025) reported local OTC minimums of about Rp50 million at Reku, Rp100 million at Ajaib, Rp150 million at Bittime and Rp500 million at Indodax (another source says Rp1 billion). Tokocrypto has offered OTC since November 2025 with a minimum near US$10,000. Figures can change.
Can tourists or expats buy crypto in Jakarta?
Indodax says foreign nationals verify with a passport, and Tokocrypto mentions a KITAS or KITAP. Whether short-stay visitors can open an account at a licensed trader is something we could not confirm for each platform. Ask the platform's support team before depositing.
Do exchange head offices in Jakarta serve walk-in customers?
A head-office address is not a trading counter. Indodax opened a Customer Center in Pondok Indah on 2 February 2024 offering support, an academy and a content studio, with no mention of cash handling. Contact official support before visiting.
